SmileDirectClub, the direct-to-consumer clear dental aligners company, filed for bankruptcy in September and has now officially been shut down.
With the company no longer providing treatment, many customers are left confused and angry. Current customer orders have been cancelled and customer care support has also ended.
New Castle News reports, the “company apologized and urged consumers to consult their local dentist or orthodontist for further treatments.”
For years, orthodontists and other dental professionals have expressed concerns regarding direct-to-consumer dentistry or DIY dentistry. They have always encouraged patients to seek oral health care directly from their dentist.
